Imagine your life as a work of art.
It started as a cry, a coo, a happy gurgle.
The rhyhym got stronger as your body moved.
The rhythym was the beating of your little heart, and it felt love, a desire for life.
Then you began to have ideas — felt differences.
Two patterns began to develop in your life of sensations: doing and being — like your two eyes.
At last the pattern became clear, almost more important than the life itself, your life — You!
As you look back your memory is the pattern of all these felt and figured differences, patterned into experience. All of these you feel and remember — feel even more than remember.
These two aspects of your life doing and being, sensation and ideas, are your history, your consciousness of yourself as the artist. One who has the freedom to create, and know he is creating.
The mystery of music and the mystery of language are the same: the mystery that sounds have meaning. As a speaker you are an artist, one who possesses the freedom of conscious creation, a creator of Language.
It is the greatest gift we possess.
